BEFORE WEDDING SKINCARE ADVICE

BEFORE WEDDING SKINCARE ADVICE

Despite expert advice, most brides start too late getting their skin wedding-ready. Using new products, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels within a month of your wedding IS NOT how to achieve the best results in a short amount of time. Here is a summarized timeline from Bride’s magazine on how to optimize your skin’s natural beauty and glow before your big day!

1 YEAR OUT
There are many long-term benefits in using retinol and a prescription-strength retinoid. However, the short-term effects can include redness, peeling, and a possible uptick in acne before all the benefits kick in. This is why you should start with non-prescription retinol for at least 4-8 weeks before progressing to a prescription retinoid.

If your budget permits, visit a local esthetician for an exfoliating facial or peel, once a month. Or for a budget-friendly option, I recommend alternating a high-end exfoliator and deep cleansing mask, every other week. After each treatment, apply a generous amount of Vitamin C for skin brightening.

Green Juice is GREAT for the skin because it’s oxygenating and contains vital minerals to help stimulate the lymphatic system, which aids in draining out the puffiness. Start drinking Green Juice once a day.

Also, if you can, decrease your intake of red wine to prevent skin dehydration, broken capillaries, and dullness.

To maintain moisture, continue using a gentle cleanser that’s sulfate and paraben-free. Wash your face last when showering, to let the steam open and activate your pores. Immediately pat your skin dry and apply a lotion to lock in moisture.

1 MONTH OUT
By now, you should see a dramatic difference and improvement in your skin. Keep a clean diet and make sure you are doing self-care to manage stress. This month should be focused on pampering yourself and maintaining the beautiful skin you have worked so hard to achieve.
